Step 2: Floor and Furniture Protection (10 minutes)

Professional cleaning preserves your flooring and belongings. We set up floor coverings throughout the work areas: plastic runners in high-traffic paths, drop cloths near vents, and temporary door-frame protection for corners where equipment passes through.

This step requires 10 minutes but eliminates post-cleaning damage claims. Shortcutting this step is a common sign of budget or uncertified cleaning services.

Step 3: Pre-Sealing and Negative Pressure Setup (15 minutes)

The NADCA-standard cleaning method uses negative pressure air. The system hooks up our truck-mounted HEPA vacuum system to your HVAC system via a temporary large-diameter hose (typically 10 inches). This creates negative pressure throughout the entire duct system — drawing particulates out of the ducts and into our HEPA-filtered collection.

All other duct openings (vents and returns) are covered during this phase to maintain the negative pressure. This is — it's the difference between a real professional cleaning and a glorified vacuum job.

Step 4: Mechanical Cleaning of Individual Runs (60-90 minutes)

With negative pressure engaged, technicians systematically clean each individual duct run. The process: remove each vent cover, insert a rotary brush system down each supply and return run, agitate the dust and debris loose from duct walls, and allow the negative pressure to pull debris into the vacuum collection.

Rotary brush systems work at the right speed to dislodge buildup without damaging duct interiors. Uncertified services sometimes use compressed air alone — which doesn't dislodge adhered buildup.

Step 5: Trunk Line Cleaning (20-30 minutes)

After individual vent runs, we clean the main trunk lines — the primary horizontal and vertical ducts that connect the HVAC unit to the individual runs. These are accessed through cleaning ports, and cleaned with brush systems sized for larger-diameter ducts.

Trunk lines typically hold the highest buildup since they carry the highest airflow. Cleaning them is necessary for real indoor air quality improvement.

Step 6: Blower Compartment and Coil Cleaning (30 minutes)

Complete service doesn't stop at the ducts. The HVAC blower compartment, evaporator coil, and drain pan all accumulate contaminants that recirculate throughout the home if not cleaned.
